Just wanted to turn the RolnRock Community onto a newer artist I’ve been listening to, Seb Lowe, and especially his new song released today, “Me, a God.”
I’ve been listening to quite a bit of his music lately, and this one immediately stood out to me.
Seb Lowe is a young singer-songwriter from Greater Manchester, England. His music mixes indie rock, folk-punk, and alternative rock, with a lot of his songwriting focused on politics, class, social issues, and people in positions of power.
“Me, a God” is apparently a follow-up to his earlier song “No One to Kill in the Sky.” The song deals with humanity expanding to Mars and what starts out sounding like progress quickly turning into greed, exploitation, and someone becoming increasingly convinced of their own importance.
You really can’t help but listen to this song and think of Elon Musk. I haven’t seen anything where Lowe specifically says that’s who the song is about, but the Mars setting, money, power, workers, and the whole god-complex angle certainly make the comparison pretty easy.
Hopefully the outcome of the song isn’t the outcome we get in real life.
Anyway, I really like this one and thought it was worth sharing.
