New Music Discovery – Scott Helman – Mr. Record Label.

Scott Helman - Fo Fum Records

Scott Helman is an independent artist that I first discovered in early 2026 via his Instagram when he was promoting his song “Faith in Humanity.” This is also a great song, and I highly recommend checking it out. However, the song I’m focusing on for this post is the one that blew up and has gained Scott a ton of recognition from the online community: “Mr. Record Label.” Despite only being released in July, it already has over 1 million plays on Spotify and sits as his top song on Apple Music.

“Mr. Record Label” is a call to independent musicians everywhere. It’s anti-establishment at a time when we need that mentality in our music again. It’s poppy, catchy, and still rebellious—basically everything you want in a song. Corporate overlords are destroying humanity’s culture, and it’s time to take it back and support independent artists.

This also plays directly into Scott’s own story. He was signed to Warner Music Canada under a development deal at just 15 years old, and his first two albums, Hôtel de Ville and Nonsuch Park (SA), were released through the Warner Music Canada label. In 2024, however, he went fully independent, launching his own label, Fo Fum Records. Since going independent, he has released one EP, Augusta 10, along with various singles, including “Mr. Record Label.”

You can listen to Scott’s music on Apple Music, YouTube, Spotify. If you really want to support him head over to his website https://www.scotthelmanmusic.com and buy his albums.
